parking plot

My eye slowly reforms, and makes
the icebergs and iridescent lakes
all over the big store parking spaces.
The mind is a treasure,
and imagination is its leisure;
it takes journeys to faraway places.

The glow of street lamps shine
turn asphalt into wavy brine,
and a dead leaf into an exotic isle.
Tree to tree in thick canopy
with power over all I see;
I rule the honeyed land by wit and guile.

 The angry sea would punish me
for sins of poisoned air and greed.
Its deep inhale strands sails; into alarm
as it builds itself until fearsome roars
sends it pounding towards crowded shores.
Sensing doom and the  awful rolling swarm,

I call the Sun to pull to West
and wind lifts me to crescent's crest
Swing from the moon and grab a falling star;
riding on doubtless faith, and air
lifts my reach like a golden stair.
My hand made firm, belief is the power;

I yank the tide and stretch it low
return the sea its peaceful glow.
Save the land and the people that I love
Brown skinned shimmy as hips gyrate
the wide eyed beauties celebrate,
wine and laughter fly to heavens above.

 Fond embraces raise body heat
 dance of love, doesn't miss a beat
 it simply seems the natural thing to do
fantasy so real, I want more
 cross the lot and open the door
a dream, and a car seat to sink in two

smaller things

He used all of his strength
to quiet the voices within;
those that urged him to stand and walk.
Long since the tribes of oak and sycamore had ceased,
when the wandering hardwoods and cedars
fell to quietude and inner view, they had not walked

Standing as if tied to Earth, feeding on
the generous warmth of the sun, he used
all of his strength to beat back the rhythm
of pounding foot marks.

It was well, with the purge of giants
that quietude prevail, the ways without change;
the world belongs to smaller things
that so busy stay
that they change the places in which they
scurry in daily circles, maddening creatures they,
that flit and irritate land, wind and water.

It is well to stand and watch
learn shorter breaths and longer sleep.
He used all of his strength
to remain hushed and still,
to creak in the stretching bark,
bend with the music of the winds
and celebrate like the stars, each
passing generation of the busy small ones;

as they move like snail foot, to gain
peace, and someday they may find
quietude.

Shared in the morning

I left the music inside my head
on lips that simply tried,  it died;
The heart ached to find the lost…

I left the music inside my head
as my body danced across the light,
And even when my words took flight

they could not stray far away.
The heart is like a warm welcome nest
trying to hold on to all the rest of the joy
We shared in the morning

And then the music inside my head
Began to stir and swirl
Until the world seemed ready
And then the waters fall,
the comets flash,
And the moon was a ball of gold.

We found the music inside my head
And shared it like a precious bread
Divided but never diminished
Until every heart...was truly fed
By the music inside my head
and joy we shared in the morning.

dawn song

The music of dawn sets pen to dance
across a page and into memory; morning glance
and first light is a balm, a spiritual calm
and it sets us on a path for day,
as pillars of sunlight guide the way.

When we reach the edge of twilight.
and make the rituals of coming night,
a harvest of flight and gathered sight,
becomes a day in which we grew
by folding the old into the new.

steam ...

Lost in a thought- I'd borrowed
from her lips and eyes
and the mist from the tea
fills all I can see, a surround
and bound all presents

I drift into a moment before a kiss...
melting away, all the bustle
words they say sift through
a prism, and you are the anchor
upon this  softly rolling sea,
as mists, simply mystify....until

the room rises from fog
walls remove  sky, solidify
faces say who and why
skin tones reply  to my searching eyes
and I can only wish this momentary bliss
to stay...just this way

moon ascending

Into the night,
up into the bright, glowing face
golden moon ascending
rising from jealous trees
that keep you from me and give
faint stars-remnants of even greater age-
a dim and temporary stage.

I feign surprise, that so many wiser men
have said this too, it is something
in you,  a trust, a sensed confidence...
a wish to share that impels thought-laden breath
to bare wit and heart

If only I could keep one petal
of this bright flower near, vagrant
darkness would disappear;
I would finally hear the magic
in sounds of moonlit notes, and fallen
crystal spines of life
