a delicate taste

The summer brings stormy nights
When earth and sky cannot be still
For the heat rises and calm descends
a struggle in the steamy air.

Near ground the faraway sound of the clash
And random flash like nerves on fire
Until we feel it in wisps of near air.

As thoughts wander above the covering clouds
I slowly inhale lotus and honeysuckle
And miss that delicate taste--
Moonlight on your skin

justice-ku

my coffee is bitter
not worth the price charged...

in star bucks

no place to sit and wait
for mocha choco-lattes

unquiet night

The woman in my bed
a smile that spread like dawn
filled crevices in the crumpled pillow
and spoke to the places
within my thoughts, that make and re-make
the woman in my bed

Unquiet, as was never in plain day,
Her insistent whispers churn the air
passions under breath
her body translates rippled thunder,
as lightning on wet lips met my skin

The woman in my bed
Wraps me in arms and thighs
As her deep blue eyes close to the dim lit room
and open to her heart

The Peeresident

Ode to Donald Pee -
the insect politician, seems he
devours his followers-- daily!
Outed by the righteous Sir Comey
that in the mirror he does see
an entire country..and gleefully blurts-
ahhh- my just desserts!

Somewhere, wet eyes in upward stare
rise like a mighty flock in fervent prayer
that justice still exists, and everywhere
there is dread and fear, that the puppet strings
that make America sting in discord, may yet bring
the soul of its true self to rise, Phoenix-like from ashes
scorched ground, the Lord's whip has many lashes
and the greatest pain is in the joy of forgiveness

a near side of eternity

near side of eternity

I close eyes and let the wells rise
memories that come to reprise
the hollow days we filled, as we poured
our youth and dreams.

When sense and sensation were confused
by the smiles we wore--
Remember the cool mists of soft spring rains
that lasted as long as my will to step and slosh;
watching red lights and rooster-tails and thinking
through all manners of futures, wishing and wanting
love or happiness when it seemed
that having both was an impossible dream.

It was the wanting that led me,
across asphalt and old cobblestones,
like the the pole star above a glistening sea.
My dreams sparkled like a million moons
a-dance on swells and peaks
as the water and my spirit
reached for a near side of eternity.

A Solitary Dream

Why Love?
When greed is so much easier,
and want is much less precise;
Need can fill a moment with pieces of the self.

Why Love, indeed-
when the salvation march is a single file
and faith is a table for one;
Life is a solitary dream.

So in the mirror we cannot stand mute
as vapors of pregnant breath
carry truths we cannot deny,
Why Love? For it overwhelms my life--
I watch as answers gather
in the wells of my eyes

an ancient curse

Don’t tie your precious freedom to a gun
It takes the rarest blessing shared by all
Human life - the wonder under the Sun.

When shared, life’s not a battle to be won
-together we rise, alone each must fall
Don’t tie your precious freedom to a gun

The bullet’s work done cannot be undone
It takes- unforgiving, breath’s final call
Human life - the wonder under the Sun

when armed, the weakling threatens everyone
empowers evil to its dreadful haul
Don’t tie your precious freedom to a gun

Like ancient curses passed father to son
-the cult of killing calls in honey-ed drawl-
Human life - the wonder under the Sun.

For love is never late nor over done
And life offers no guarantee or recall
Don’t tie your precious freedom to a gun
Human life’s the wonder under the Sun.
